KCM222 range of 14 cup coffeemakers from Kitchenaid have gained popularity due to the 14 cup size and the programmable options. Many users have found that it brews much better coffee than more expensive models. However, this series of coffeemakers is prone to overheating causing damages to the seal and the coffee drips all overs and eventually the plastic rim of the glass carafe gets damaged. And when that happens, you need to look for a replacement carafe.
Kitchenaid have replacement carafes such as the KCM22GC glass carafe. However, a replacement glass carafe is likely to develop the same problem as the overheating will cause the plastic rim to weaken. The better solution is to get a KCM22TC 12 Cup Thermal Carafe, though it costs $10 more. Unfortunately, this too has a plastic rim, and the coffee will drip over time. But at least the problem is not so pronounced with the thermal carafes. Another suitable alternative is the KitchenAid KCM14GC Glass 14 Cup Replacement Coffee Carafe. This is the suitable carafe for the newer KitchenAid KCM1402 14-cup Glass Carafe Coffee Maker, but it also fits the KCM222, and it has a better design, eliminating the dripping and spillage problems of the KCM22GC
